Wacky Winter!

This has been the craziest winter ever!  With temps hovering the mid 50's to 60's in the middle of January is just plain crazy, unheard of!  Last Saturday we experienced a little bit of winter, we had about 2-3 inches of that darn white stuff!  Let me tell you, I loved it!  I love a good snow storm or blizzard, just love it!  Last year when we got hit with 3 blizzards in a row with a total of 3 feet of snow, I just thought it was the coolest thing ever!!!  My children are home safe, my husband is home safe and I have plenty of food for all.

Scottie was the cutest of the bunch last week, he woke up and saw the snow and the first words out of his mouth was "Mom, it's Christmas again!"

Well, here are a few pics from last week!

Hope the weather is great in your neck of the woods!  Spring will be here in a few short weeks!  Yeah!

Happy Monday all, may your week be blessed with amazing things!

Downton Abbey......

Last week one of my favorite blogs, Memories on Clover Lane, Sarah posted about a show that she had fallen in love with on PBS called "Downton Abbey".   I never had heard of it, but the responses and comments she received from all over the globe was telling me something, so many people were singing it's praises, so it had to be good!  It was kind of cosmic if you know what I mean, because all of sudden the complete season one was just added to my Netflix account.  So one day, I decided to give it a whirl while Timmy our baby was sleeping.  It soon became my afternoon addiction!  I would do all the laundry and throw it on the couch and wait for nap time, to fold and watch.  I am not one to sit down and watch TV during the day, I kind of feel guilty doing that.  But that's a whole different blog entry isn't that! LOL

If you enjoy historical fiction novels set in the early victorian era, you will love this series!  It normally is on Sunday evenings at 9pm on PBS, but showing now is Season 2, do yourself a favor and rent season one from Netflix You kind of need to watch it to follow the story line.  It is wonderful, it's such a great change of pace from all the reality tv that is all over the place.  Enjoy!

I am a sucky blogger!

Back in October I thought that I would give blogging a whirl.  Well, I sucked at it! Maybe I didn't suck at it, I just didn't try that's all.  Well, I am back and ready to give it another try!

Mainly, I was in a little depression.  Hard to say, as it's soooo not my personality.  But, frankly I was miserable!  I was feeling sorry for myself and as the holiday's were approaching, just stepping into this house was hard.  I would pull up in front of my house in the car and just sit there, no neighbors, an empty cul de sac.  I would just sit there, tears streaming down my face, afraid of the unknown, afraid if this was it, afraid if we were going to flood again for a third time.  I feared for my children and prayed, and prayed and prayed!  I have never prayed as much as I did, and continue to do so.  I had a choice, I could get mad at God for what had happened, or deepen my faith.  I chose to deepen my faith and rely on him, trusting him and thanking him!  I chose to rely on him, meaning that I know that he does not want us to despair, but to live in abundance and to be a blessing to others.  I chose to thank him for all the good things in my life, my amazing husband and incredibly resilient children.  They were my beacon of hope!

As 2011 closed, I made a decision to be happy!  I needed to be for my family, my husband needed his wife back and my children needed their mother back.

The holidays came and it ended up being such a wonderful Christmas.  The little ones were soooo cute!  It seriously made Frank and I melt!  Scottie really was so adorable, he was so grateful for all his presents!  Santa brought him  this angry birds sweatshirt and hat and the second he opened it, he put it on and didn't take it off until it was time for bed.  It was just so precious, all Frank and I could do was smile and laugh.  God really does work through his little ones doesn't he.  So follow me along for the ride, 2012 is going to be amazing I declare! LOL  I can feel it! xoxoxox  Dawn

Trying to figure this all out...

I decided a few weeks ago, that I would give my hand at starting a blog.   I am just an ordinary mother, trying to remember all the fun and not so fun times in this so called life.  Life has been a challenge the last few weeks, and we are fighting our way back.  On August 21st, our life forever changed, twice!  On August 21, 1999 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.  On August 21, 2011 we were rescued by boat out of our home as a flash flood came ripping through.  One week later, what ever the flash flood didn't take, Ms. Irene did.  I was debating if I would post pics of the event, but honestly looking at them, is like reopening a wound.

So, this is our story of a family, life after Hurricane Irene.  Come along for the ride.
